“Call” Me Crazy
I just got home from a 13-hour call at the CPEP (Psych ER). I just added up my work hours for the week, and I put in about 72 hours, just 8 hours shy of the 80 hour residency work hour limit. Not horrible, but definitely tiring. I sat down at my computer with every intention to write a beautiful, thought provoking post. However, I just realized that sleep sounds more appealing than actually using my brain to compose a thoughtful post. So, I will give a single tidbit of “stuff learned” from this week, instead:
Erotomania is a type of delusion in which the affected person believes that another person, usually a stranger or famous person, is in love with him or her. The most famous example of this is John Hinkley, who attempted to assassinate president Ronald Reagan in an attempt to impress Jodie Foster. I actually saw this recently. Clerambault Syndrome is the official catch phrase for erotomania, named after a French psychiatrist.
That’s all my brain has the energy to express right now. Good night world. Enjoy the photos with this post!
