I Have the Coolest Job, Ever

Psychiatry happy hour!

My apologies to the world for not writing in a bit. I have been one busy beaver as of late. Today is the first day all week that I have not had some sort of post-work activity to attend. I have every intention of eating a good dinner tonight and going to sleep incredibly early. It’s a shame that I’m so tired and unmotivated right now, because I can think of a million awesome things to write about right now. Today we had lectures, and I learned some cool stuff regarding Mental Status Exams. We learned about two things, which I have observed on many occasions, but didn’t know the names for. The first one is called “predicate identification.” The best example that I can give is this: “Jesus is a man. I am a man. I am Jesus.” The other super cool “logic error” is called pars pro toto (taking part for the whole). The example provided in class was “I am wearing a cape, so I am superman.”

How cool is psych?!!

Also, right now my attending physician is on vacation. This means that it’s just ME taking care of all my patients. Lots of responsibility, and totally awesome. (Yes, I can still use the other attendings for guidance.)

Anyway, I’d write much more about all the cool stuff that I’ve seen, done, and learned, but my doggies need to be walked, and I’m famished. Nitey!
