Stay-cation, Here I Come!

M&M on my thigh

I’m the happiest girl on the planet right now. I just got home from a 13-hour call in the CPEP (psych ER). I’m pooped to the max (I know, what’s new!) However, I do NOT have to WORK for the next 8 days in a row!!

I can stay up late tonight if I want. I have a billion errandy things to do, but I have plenty of time to do them. This is the best day of my life.

Call was awesome. Here are some incredibly random things learned/or were reemphasized to me today:

1. If you want to get a severely mentally retarded person to answer your questions, ask them what they like to do.

2. Psychiatrists have the odd ability to present even normal people as potentially psychotic.

3. I might live in the marijuana smoking capital of the USA.

4. Culture is everything. It’s not crazy if it’s acceptable in a patient’s culture.

5. I like being a doctor.

6. I like teaching medical students.

7. Caribbean jerk chicken + rice + beans is a perfect mid-day meal, which gets you through many hours of work.

8. If you hear voices telling you to go to the hospital, you should listen to them.

9. Manic obsessive people are good house cleaners.

10. I’m good at connecting with transgendered patients.

11. If a patient says “are you the social worker?” to a female physician, there is an 85% chance that they have antisocial personality disorder.

That’s all I got right now. Time to drink wine and be merry!

I was trying to figure out where you had the M&M.

So, if that’s your thigh, those must be some awesome tights. Right? (It’s getting chilly down here in the Mid-Atlantic and I’m dreaming of skirts, leggings/tights. I’m excited for the cooler weather!)
