Working Hard, Not Hardly Working
“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”
- Thomas Edison
So, if you know me on any level, you might have gathered that I’m totally into hard work. I enjoy a challenge. I like to work until I have blisters on my feet and grease on my brow. I’m a hypomanic person who needs to sweat to be happy. (One only has to examine the number of miles I run every week for proof of this.)
Today I “worked” with a new attending. He had me do more work than my previous attending. He also gave me much more autonomy to make decisions about patient care. Turns out that this makes me one happy psychiatry resident.
I came home today and felt fulfilled. Tired. Satisfied. Yay!
