I had to give you 5 stars, because I understand and sympathize, I can’t imagine 18 hours. As a nurse I worked 12 hour shifts for years and hate them now. It’s called a 12 hr shift but with reports on both ends and finishing paperwork it is always 13 or so.
It became to easy to be short tempered with patients who needed my attention and comfort. Then 8 hour shifts became too long and I realized it was time to go back to school before I became a patient.

i had the same questions as u had when i was starting out. and then i realised that there’s a limit to your physical and mental capabilities– after gruelling and toilsome hours, u just have to shut down and retreat to your shell. one of my seniors gave me the most simple yet heartfelt advice– you gotta look after yourself, because if you don’t, no one will.
