Bridging the Gap
I just got home from inpatient neurology on call. I continue to love neurology more than medicine. And it’s not just the topic, but the schedule. I had time to eat today. And I actually LEARNED stuff today, which was awesome. I actually find neurology to be pretty fascinating. Mostly, we deal with strokes and seizures all day, but there are also some very cool cases like central retinal artery occlusion and other stuff.
I’m fairly pooped right now, so I’m not really motivated to share more.
But the gist is that neurology is pretty fun. And I’m starting to get the hang of this whole “doctor” stuff. I had a patient who fell and hit his head on my shift. It came quite naturally to me to order “CT head, CT facial bones, one to one, fall precautions” immediately. It’s really the little stuff.
But I find myself missing psychiatry. When we get a patient with “psych issues” I’m instantly more excited. I find myself drawn to the psych cases and the psych perspective.
I can say right now that I chose the right field. It’s simply what I am the most passionate about. And it comes the most naturally to me.
Anyway, time to eat. And sleep.
