Cleanliness is Next to Happiness

I am a self-proclaimed obsessive compulsive person. I have always been a neat person. And, I have an obsession about things being correctly aligned. A crooked picture on a wall causes me anxiety. Crooked rugs will drive me up the wall. Literally.

My clean fridge

Not only do I need to have a clean apartment, but the process of cleaning is in itself a therapeutic experience for me. I’m happy to say that since I had the past two days off in a row (eat that, residency!), I’ve been able to clean my apartment, do all my laundry, and organize my life, in general. In addition, I had the time to add two “extras” to my usual cleaning routine. I cleaned out my refrigerator and microwave. Now I no longer have to wince with anxiety every time I go to grab orange juice from the fridge or re-heat my leftovers.

My planets are aligned!

Oddly, I’ve started to develop more OCD -like symptoms as I’ve aged. Not that I would make you take off your shoes and wash your feet to walk through my room or anything, but a little bit. Anyway, several things I’d like to point out…we have the same placement in our fridges for: OJ, beer, yogurt (Stonyfield?), eggs, what appears to be bags of cheese, and salad dressing (the ones on the bottom). We must be related!

That is one North American-stocked fridge. I’ll post a Dominican medical student fridge in the future…expect tupperware, juice, eggs and lots of empty space. Glad you’ve got your planets in order.

Definitely clean enough to eat from, but needs more room for beer!

Haha, you have an issue about correct alignment, but I have an issue with correct grouping. For example, I would put the OJ and the V8 on the fridge door next to your other OJ carton, and find a way to make room to put your Coke Zero on the same level with your beer(?) and OJ. I should not obsess over your fridge because it’s not my fridge :)

A great story. Makes me want add a weekly cleaning person to my budget for the peace of mind and more rest.
