Everything And the Kitchen Sink

Today was another day of awesomeness in inpatient neurology.

The stark contrast between my experience in medicine and my experience in neurology thus far is profound.

I came in early today to work on two discharges and had most of my work completed by the time everyone else arrived for rounds. This meant that I had very little work to complete during the afternoon.

The Kitchen Sink

I had a leisurely lunch today.

I had the time to research topics related to my patients.

I had time to think.

It’s very strange because I am still somewhat stuck in medicine hyperdrive. I’m not used to actually having the time to think.

It’s wonderful, but a little strange. I’m finding it more difficult to slow down than I expected.

It’s sort of analogous to putting the brakes on a runaway train.

I ain’t complaining though. I have more time tonight to catch up on emails. I almost went for a run, but just couldn’t quite bring myself to accept the fact that I had the time to do so.

Hopefully my body clock will reset soon.

I went to my first stroke code today. Very interesting. But I didn’t have to draw the labs this time. Very different.

I have an absolutely amazing neurology attending.

I am happy.
