In Like a Lion
“March roars in like a lion
So fierce,
The wind so cold,
It seems to pierce. The month rolls on
And Spring draws near,
And March goes out
Like a lamb so dear.”- Lorie Hill
The “March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb” quote held true for me today. Today, March 1st, was quite a day for me. I began my month of neurology consults with a bang, and on top of everything else, I was on call today. It was a 14-hour day at the hospital for me. I barely got to eat a little lunch, but didn’t have any dinner, so I’m tired, and hungry as a bunny.
I did so much work today and had so many experiences, that I don’t know where to begin. I went to a bunch of “stroke codes.” I admitted patients. I wrote consults. I wrote a truck-load of orders. I only got *slightly* yelled at once, by the neuroradiologist. (But he was nicer to me after I told him that I was just a meager intern.)
I’d love to go on and on about my day, but the fridge, shower and bed are all calling my name.
I’ll say it again. Although I am fatigued and starving, I am happy. I do still love my job.
Out like a lamb.
Photo: Taken outside of the hospital this morning. As you may be able to tell, people sometimes give me funny looks when I stop to take photos of trash and abandoned strollers!
