The Daily Grind

“Find a job you like and you add five days to every week.”

- H. Jackson Browne

Brooklyn Bridge Sand Castle

I woke up today to what may be one of the most terrifying experiences one can have: the sound of the alarm clock alerting me to the fact that I had to go back to work after a long and enjoyable vacation. I was discussing this topic with my fellow psycho, (psych resident) Rishi (see, now I will know if you read my blog) on my walk home from work today. And the strange thing is that although I had dread in my heart this morning since I knew that I had to start waking up in the morning to go back to work after a 9 day vacation, as soon as I got to work I had the realization that, “hey, I love this!”

My Run, Baby!

So, it turns out that I do not have to dread, because I actually love my job.

This past Saturday I went for an almost 15-mile run with my friend Chris and two new running buddies. It turns out that there is this awesome thing called “Summer Streets” in NYC, where they temporarily close Park Avenue and connecting streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park in Manhattan. I cannot describe the thrill I felt sailing down the streets of Manhattan, with my 2 doggies, and thousands of other runners and bikers surrounding me. Achieve Nirvana: CHECK!

Summer Streets

I now must attend to making my dinner for tonight. I ran 30+ miles last week, and have already run 11 this week. I need me some calories!

Photos: 1) Some folks along the run building the Brooklyn Bridge out of sand. 2) A map of my run, via GPS. 3) A quick snapshot of my view on the run.

Very  cool to see the streets without traffic. I can’t believe you need a GPS, though. Moss grows on the north side of the tree (A tree grows in Brooklyn, right?) and you can find your way from there! QED.

Hey, don’t make fun of me! :) Whilst I do get lost very easily, I wasn’t using my GPS to find my way, but rather to track my awesome run!

Wow! The photo of all the pedestrians/runners on the streets of NYC is a great one! What do you use to take your photos? I love the coloring/exposure. Thanks!
